Once again, the local TP opinion/editorial geniuses get it wrong. The hypocritic audacity of those on the Right never fails to amaze me. The mental midgets who write the Laurels and Lances for the TP live in their own little world with a rose colored sky, even without their glasses on.

Laurel: To Tom Coburn and John McCain. The Republican U.S. senators, of Oklahoma and Arizona, respectively, list Pittsburgh's North Shore Connector as the nation's third-worst waste of federal "stimulus" money. And what a waste it is. Its benefits were oversold. It's dramatically over budget. And it's a monument to both the state in ineptness and the ineptness of the state. It is "waste" incarnate.
This piece of wiping paper has been against the North Shore Connector since it was first proposed by a, gasp! Democrat! The intellectually challenged at the TP don’t like spending money, or rather spending money on other people’s ideas. It’s quite another thing to waste our tax dollars on what THEY think is worthy even if it’s not.
During Jim Roddy’s reign as fool-in-charge of the Port Authority and County Executive, we saw rates for Public Transportation rise, salaries rise (for the management people but that was ok, it was those damn union people who had the nerve to get more money!) and we watched as Jimbo and his ilk ran the Authority into the future ground setting the stage for the problems we have today.
But have you ever heard a word of criticism of Jimbo from this fetid paper? Nope! And you never will. Why? Because Jimbo is a Republican and they can do no wrong. Just ask any of them.
Now the feeble minds at the TP use loser John McCain and Oil Company Puppet Tom Coburn as examples of expertise on waste?

Where were these opinion writing assholes when McCain and Coburn had no problem wasting our tax dollars on two illegal wars? Where were they when Bush and the Republicans created tax cuts for the wealthy that Bush/Cheney promised would create jobs (we’re still waiting on that one)? Where were they when the gangsters that Bush appointed to oversee the Fed led us straight into the worst recession of all time? Where were they when Bush appointees decided to bail out Wall Street with no assurance of how the money would be spent? Where were they when Obama instituted a Republican (and Jason Altmire) reduced and crippled stimulus that would have done much more had Republicans and Blue Dog Traitor Democrats not gutted most of it?
These uncaring bastards haven’t the decency to tell the truth about anything. And if it’s a demonstrable fact, they, like Fox, ignore it. A prime example is the bullshit going on with Social Security. McCain and Coburn want to gut it, Medicare and Medicaid. They lie about whether SS has a problem knowing there is NONE! We have a surplus. We have a Social Security surplus until 2037. Guess who wants that surplus for their own uses?
And the talk about the deficit is so asinine as to be pathetic. McCain and Coburn were not worried about paying for a deficit when they voted a trillion of our tax dollars for two illegal wars or when they approved (along with Jason Altmire) additional wasted funds for the war in Afghanistan.
But these overly rich Bastards don’t want to pay unemployment because they claim it will add to the deficit. Studies by the Office of Management and Budget (a non-partisan government Department) have shown that for each dollar of unemployment paid during a recession, the government gets back $1.73! Whereas thanks to the Bush Tax Cuts each dollar of cuts for the wealthy top 2% MIGHT return $1.02!
And these uncaring bastards claim we need to make sure we have the money available BEFORE we pay for unemployment or healthcare yet they wrote blank checks for 2 illegal wars that created a 2 trillion dollar deficit for us! And you people who watch Fox and most of the Network and Cable News believe them?
So why do the Mental Olympians at the local TP and Trib itself continue to lie to us when they know that the policies of the Republicans will only help those in the top 2% of money earners in the country? Ask them next time you see one. Ask Altmire why he can throw our money away on an illegal war but not give a damn about the plight of those without health coverage.
Oh yeah, One more thing. It’s just been reported that the Government is trying to reduce the salary and benefits of our troops, active and retired to reduce the deficit, all the while spending your money on Halliburton and Xe(formerly Blackwater) like a drunken sailor. Add to that the over 8 billion that we gave to Karzai (leader of Afghanistan and OUR guy) just this year that somehow just disappeared into thin air (he claims he doesn’t know anything about it and threatens to block ANY Congressional investigation into it!).
One last thing. In case you didn’t know, Afghanistan is the world’s leading producer of heroin. There’s nobody even close to second in comparison. And who runs this nearly trillion dollar operation? Why Karzai’s brother, whom we support and was installed by the Bush Administration. So when you hear about getting tough on the drugs that kill your kids, remember that Bush and Congress are the ones that COULD stop this problem by cutting off the money to Afghanistan…but they won’t! Please vote for them again.

How time flies when you do nothing...
It's coming up on that time of year again folk. The time of the season when the school board does their thing, or tries to.
Another year, another fruitless set of meetings with our old friends Judy and Karen and Billy. I'm thinking of starting a pool, like the Basketball March Madness one but this one will try to figure out when, or if,the three total wastes of time will produce some meaningful proposal.
Haven't come up with a prize yet but am thinking about a dinner at the Anchor!
There's a new item added at the right above the "Blog Archive" that shows the time since the Better Choice for Highlands put these three do-nothings in office. You folk really got your money's worth with them (that's sarcasm).
I remember talking with some voters a few years ago asking why they will vote for these three clowns. The answers ranged from, "We knew Billy" or "He taught my kid" to "Karen has a plan" (if you'll remember, she never said what that plan was and hasn't since. Reminds me of the other political waste of time, Sarah Palin. Big on talk, nothing on action) and for No No, "Well, she needs to attend more conferences so she can get more 'stuff' for the district." Yeah, like tee-shirts and maybe mittens for the kids at Grandview. All great excuses.
In the meantime, your taxes are going up. You knew that, right? Did it this year. Just wait until 2014 for even more tax increases! We're talking 4 to 5 mills per year for a few years. But hey, we got a really swell, pretty stadium.
Here's looking forward to another less than mediocre school year.
Oh, and Mikey, someone you made a comment to at a store recently sends his love. He says he's planning on looking you up at one of the meetings to show you some papers I gave him. Didn't seem too happy. I heard he had been willing to forget somethings you printed(...until you became the perfect example of an idiot) but I guess that's gone now. I'll be at that meeting, too. Wouldn't miss it for the world if just to make sure things don't get exaggerated.
